Colony & The Hart of Kelburn

David has spent the last forty five years exploring ways of depicting the natural world as he sees it.
His field expeditions to study animals have taken him to many exotic locations including Madagascan rainforests,
Jamaica's coral atolls, African savannahs and India's wildlife reserves to study tigers.
He is a painter, sculptor and self confessed 'tinker', experimenting with new and unusual materials wherever he can. His most recent works in up cycled electrical wire and cardboard have produced a body of contemporary work for exhibition in galleries, festivals and garden exhibitions throughout the UK in 2023.

Hidden in deep natural fissures in the bark of the Ancient Yew tree there lives a secret colony of white birds. They pour from the sanctuary of the Mother Yew to fly beneath and around her massive drooping branches, protected from view by her dark arms and hidden from the outside world.
Step inside the canopy of outer branches and you may see the colony for yourself...but tread quietly lest you
disturb their secret flight.

High above the Neverending Glen, gazing majestically out over the valley, stands the Hart of Kelburn.
On its hilltop lookout, situated beside Kelburns open-air fine dining experience near to the top of the glen,
The stag's golden copper head shines in the setting sun as its orange beating heart gently beats as the diners eat. This life sized Red Deer head is constructed from up-cycled electrical cabling and copper wire.
